Body Psychotherapy

What is Body-centred Psychotherapy?

Body-Centred Psychotherapy describes therapeutic approaches that integrate a client’s
physical body into the therapy process.
Also referred to as Somatic Psychotherapy, this is a process that recognizes the intimate
relationship between the human body and the psychological well-being of a person.
Individuals who suffer physical symptoms as a means to cope with stress would work well
with this model as it helps identify the trauma being held in the body and relieve the
symptoms. Body-Centred Psychotherapists view the body as a resource for self-discovery
and healing.
